Student Council Committee
Introduction
The Student Council Committee at Padmashree Institute of Management and Sciences plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant educational environment and encouraging student participation in the governance of the institution. Comprised of elected representatives from various academic disciplines, the committee serves as a bridge between the student body and the administration. Its primary objective is to voice the concerns, ideas, and aspirations of students, ensuring that their perspectives are considered in decision-making processes. Additionally, the council organizes a myriad of activities and events that promote leadership, teamwork, and social responsibility among students. By engaging with students regularly, the committee enhances campus life, promotes a sense of community, and encourages personal and professional development. Through their dedicated efforts, the Student Council Committee actively contributes to creating a holistic learning experience that prepares students for future challenges in their academic and professional journeys.

Objectives of the Student Council:
1. Student Activities: Conducting student activities such as national and international days, cultural fests, freshers day, alumni meets, etc.
2. Leadership Development: Providing opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, fostering their personal growth, and empowering them to take on responsible roles within the student council and the larger community through conducting conferences, guest lectures, etc.
3. Community Engagement: Promoting student engagement and involvement in the educational community by organizing events, activities, and initiatives that foster a sense of belonging, inclusivity, and institutional spirit.
4. Student Welfare: Addressing student concerns and working towards enhancing the overall well-being and experience of students within the institution, including academic support, health and wellness initiatives, and student support services.
5. Collaboration and Communication: Facilitating effective communication channels between the student body, administration, faculty, and other stakeholders. Encouraging collaboration and cooperation among students, clubs, societies, and other student organizations.
6. Service and Outreach: Undertaking community service projects, social initiatives, and volunteer activities that benefit the larger community and promote a sense of social responsibility among students. For instance, conducting Blood donation camps, NSS activities, etc.
7. Academic Support: Collaborating with faculty to address academic concerns, promote educational resources, and support student success in their academic pursuits, especially for slow learners.
8. Personal and Professional Development: Offering opportunities for personal and professional growth, including organizing workshops, seminars, and career development initiatives that equip students with relevant skills and knowledge.
The overall objective of a student council is to enhance the educational experience, well-being, and development of the student body while fostering a sense of community, engagement, and active citizenship within the educational institution.
Selection Process:
- 1. Student nominees can submit their applications to the Student Council – Head
- 2. Shortlist of candidates based on academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular performance
- 3. Interview of the shortlisted candidates with the selection committee
- 4. Announcement of the newly elected student council members by the Director
Code of Conduct:
All student council members are to abide by the institutional values and keep ethics and integrity at the highest order. Members who do not follow the institutional values will have to withdraw from their posts.
Meeting Procedures:
Weekly meetings with the SC Head (Saturday) to update on the activities planned. Review Meetings with the head of the institute and IQAC Head from time to time for any amendments to the rules or processes.
Financial Management:
The treasurer is responsible for the management of financial resources allocated to the student council, including budgeting, expenditure approvals, financial reporting, and transparency.
Approval process:
Student Council Submits proposal > SC Head approval > Director > IQAC
