The field work to Government cocoon silk market was organised for Mcom students on 12-07-2024 .Ramanagara located about 50 kilometers from Bangalore, is famous for its silk industry, particularly its Cocoon Silk Market. The region has earned the nickname “Silk City” due to its thriving silk production, especially the cultivation of silkworms for the production of high-quality silk fibers. This field trip was organized to provide students with first-hand exposure to the silk market, which is an essential hub in the process of silk production in India.

The Cocoon Silk Market in Ramanagaram is where farmers, traders, and silk manufacturers come together to buy and sell cocoons. The market plays a pivotal role in the silk industry, supporting a vast network of workers involved in the production of silk fabric. The students had the opportunity to observe the process, interact with local farmers and traders, and gain insights into the economic, cultural, and ecological significance of the silk industry in the region.

The field trip to the Cocoon Silk Market in Ramanagaram was an enriching experience for all the students, offering valuable learning opportunities outside the classroom. It allowed them to explore a significant local industry, understand the process of silk production, and gain a deeper appreciation for the economic, cultural, and environmental aspects of sericulture. The trip also sparked interest in entrepreneurship and sustainable practices, encouraging students to consider how they could contribute to industries like silk production in the future.
